Hurricane Planning

A filed hurricane plan naming the person responsible when the owner is not present

Most policies written on vessels kept in Florida require a named-storm plan in writing

Requirements vary by carrier and by vessel. The plan we source is built to the language in your policy, and we are the named responsible party.

The work happens in May, not in September. By the time a storm has a name, carriers generally will not permit changes to a named-storm plan. The safe-harbour locations that matter are contracted well before peak season in August through October. We handle every step: sourcing the right plan and location, keeping the documentation current, sending renewal notifications before they lapse, and delivering the vessel to the designated location when a storm is approaching.

What we handle

  • Plan sourcing. We find the right hurricane plan and location for your vessel, matched to the language in your insurance policy.
  • Documentation. We keep the paperwork your insurer requires, stored in Mariner Pro alongside your COI with expiry alerts.
  • Renewal notifications. We notify you before the plan lapses.
  • Readiness preparation. We prep the vessel for hurricane conditions.
  • Delivery. When a storm is approaching, our captains move the boat to the designated hurricane location inside the window your plan specifies.
